"The Colombian government has become the Israel of Latin America" - Hugo Chavez


In downtown Bogotá, on one of the beautiful historic homes is this graffiti, stemming from a sharp remark made by Hugo Chavez.

Chavez has compared Colombia to Israel—both receiving funding from the United States, and stating that Colombia is now at the every beck and call of the American government. Colombians would like to think otherwise- since both cases stem from very different origins, and the type and quantity of aid cannot be compared.

Funny to think—I’ll be in Israel in less than 9 days. Surely, more on this to come…
