Colombia has resisted Starbucks as much as possible, staying true to the abundant beans that we grow and send out to the world. But that is not to say that Colombians have not come up with their own ingenous alternative, Juan Valdez.
Juan Valdez coffee shops are growing and now even in a few key places all over the world. Expanding, and also boomign with products, snacks, beautiful pastries, an odd parallel to its worldwide rival.
My favorite tidbit about Juan Valdez is the organic Panela offered as an alternative to processed sugar or even worse--chemical sweeteners.
